What is the best foor tile adhesive for a floor that has part ply covering and part concete?
Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.09 PM
I have a small downstairs toilet floor to tile, approx. 3.5sqm. In that area I have a manhole cover that I have sealed with 9mm ply. So, do I need to use flexi adhesive over the ply and a standard adhesive over the concrete or can I use just one type of adhesive?

Flexible all the way. What will happen with the ply is that it will expand and contract with heat and moisture in the atmosphere and the join with the concrete will be constantly moving with these variations. Mapei kerakwik should do the job, just make sure that the ply area is firmly fixed before tiling.

Yes just use flexible over it all, although 9mm ply is not a thick enough sub base for tiling over and is the manhole live? if it is then firstly why have you blocked it?
if the is still water content down the manhole it will rott the lid
Ply needs to be minimum 18mm screwed every 150mm or stuck down with contact adhesive
