Lino on ply on floorboards... Advice needed.
Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 2.54 PM
I've got lino glued to plywood, which is either glued to, or screwed to the suspended wooden floorboards in my new house. I'd like to put engineered or real wood flooring down as a replacement - But I'm wondering whether I need to rip up the existing lino/ply combo, or can I just lay my new flooring on top of it? I'm not bothered by the marginal increase in the floor height. TBH I'd rather do that that have to rip the lot of it up. Thanks in advance for your help!

Ideally you should always pull up insisting flooring, helps you to see if there is any under lying issues, plus if you're thinking of solid wood, i'd recommend to pull up, as you'll need to glue this down.

I would recommend pulling up the flooring as the new floorboards will need to be fixed to the existing joists.
