Mixing kitchen units from different manufacturers?

Anonymous user 14/03/2024 - 2.35 PM

Hi, I am trying to do a kitchen on a budget and have found some cheap new magnet units from some surplus stock, they don't have all the types of units I want though, could I mix with units from another manufacturer say Howdens and still blend them all together? (I plan to buy the doors for the units after so they all match). I understand most UK kitchens are a standard size with ikea being the only exception and to avoid blending with, is this correct? Thanks

If the depth and height are the same you shouldn't have too many problems. Pretty much all units now are 720mm high. You might have a problem if your existing units are different to that. Depth is usually 560 - 570, so try to match them up to avoid cutting the extra off the back. The other problem you could come across is the holes pre drilled to take the hinge plate may differ to your existing units, but you can always drill your own. Also, you would need to set the plinth legs the same distance from the front edge of unit as the existing units.

If you use howdens base units you will have to trim the backs as they are 570mm deep and if you fit them the way they are you will have to use a 616mm worktop form howdens. If my memory serves me right I think howdens wall units are deeper as well???
