Ideal Standard dual flush - slow flush using both buttons

Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.13 PM

We have an ideal standard Alto (i think) toilet with dual flush. The problem is when either flush is pressed the flush does not happen properly - its almost like the button isnt pressed far enough in. so the water only enters the toilet slowly and struggles to flush With the cistern lid off if you press either button internally the flush works without issue and clears the toilet This has been working fine for almost 2 years before this started happening. the only thing i have noticed is that the white cap ontop of the flusher is cracked and has a piece missing. the dual flush valve looks like one of these: http://buyplumbingonline.co.uk/products/Ideal-Standard-Armitage-Shanks--Dual-Flush-Valve-200H-SV92667.html Thanks in advance!

Hi I would recommend fitting a new dual flush unit with a cable or air operated button system. It shouldnt be very expensive as dual flush valves costs between £13 and £20 from Screwfix or Toolstation. Any plumber should be able to fit the new valve in around 45 minutes. Be aware that you may also need a close coupling kit (£5) as the large washer between the cistern and toilet bowl on close coupled models should be renewed also. Hope this helps. Tommy
