whistling noise from new extension

Anonymous user 14/03/2024 - 2.35 PM

My new extension attached to lounge makes a whistling noise when the wind blows. It can be quite loud with a strong window. It has a velux window in the roof, which has no draughts when windy and works well. It has a upvc window at the side of extension and double doors at the end of the extension both of which seem well sealed. Can anyone suggest what might cause it or has anyone had this similar experience? Could the wind get into the roof space via fascias or where the roof tiles meet the gutters? Guess I'm looking at any possibilities! !! Thank you

Hi, Its a tough one, the whistling sound is wind that is getting into the extension through a small hole, sometime that small you cannot see it, for example in the seals around the windows doors etc. You need to find where the sounds is coming from then you can decide on the best way of "sealing" the hole. Sorry if this sounds obvious, its the only option :) Regards Shane www.ylservices.co.uk

It is obvious that the whistle evokes a wind that encounters a hole or an obstacle. Often it can be, beyond the obvious hole, some protruding element of the structure, facade or roof. This requires a check.
