What trade to choose for putting a window in my hallway

Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.13 PM

I have got a ceiling in my hallway and there is no light coming through from the loft, I wanted a window putting in, which trade is best at doing the job?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hi. You will need a general builder that can cut out the brick work and install a lintel. You will then need a FENSA registered window installer. You could attempt to contact a window installer and they may have someone in the building trade that does this for them. Hope that helps.

It sounds like you need a velux window? if so then no brickwork will not be necessary. You will indeed need a building company as trades needed are carpenter, plasterer, roofer.

To fit a window you would need a FENSA registered person or have the work inspected for building regs. Have you considered a sun tunnel? The sun tunnel fits into the roof and brings natural light into dark spaces. Supply and Installation would be a cheaper and quicker option and can be installed by a general builder without building regulations.
