Push fit fitting popped off copper pipes after 2 weeks?

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 2.54 PM

Have any tradesmen experienced any issues with push fit connections on copper pipe? The fitting was clearly pushed on far enough as there are marks about 10-15mm down from the end of the copper. Any experience or advice that could be shared would be good. Thanks

Hi It is possible you have a defective fitting. Check the pipe for burrs at the cut as a rough cut pipe end can damage the rubber ring inside the fitting. If it is a JG Speedfit fitting it may be that it has not been tightened when fitted. Speedfit fittings have nuts which must be turned clockwise to lock them when fitted. You also need to ensure that the pipe is pushed full slip into the fitting. It is more likely that it was fitted incorrectly as these are very reliable fittings Tommy
