Anonymous user 14/03/2024 - 2.35 PM

i have purchased a new electric shower and yet the plumber states that it has fault with thermostate and does not heat water? Yet he is not qualified electrician and the company is statting their electrician is off sick and will need to visit next week to check the circuit and this can add to cost? My question is how can the plumber with out electrical compliance state that the shower is faulty?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

If the shower was energised without flushing it through this can damage a new shower. So it is an electrician that you need. Horses for courses.

You can’t really go wrong with fitting an electric shower, the wiring connection is simple. If it’s a Mira shower then they do insist that it can’t be returned and the manufacture has to be called to make a site visit.

He may have fitted a shower like the one you have and not come across a problem like this in the past. I would wait for the electrician to test the shower and if it is working then i'm sure you wont have to pay anything due to the problem being on the plumbers side. If it is faulty then you may be able to recover the costs from the company you brought the shower from in the first place. I hope this helps.

The cost shouldn't be your if it is new, so I wouldn't worry about it. Let the electrician come and test the shower and go from there.

As stated above there could be a pressure issue although if your replacing an existing unit like for like then this is unlikely. Electric shower units are internally wired and setup my the manufacturer and the installation by an electrician is minimal. I'd wait you an electrician to install it correctly and if it's still faulty send it back to the manufacturer.
