Central heating not coming on - Vaillant boiler and Salus thermostat

Anonymous user 01/03/2024 - 2.51 PM

I have a Vaillant Ecotec plus 831 boiler that was installed in November 2013 with a Salus control panel on the boiler and the Salus ST620VBC thermostat. The boiler is set to auto and the thermostat is programmed to switch the central heating on in the morning and evening for a couple of hours and off the rest of the time. I understand the (complicated) programming method and I’m sure there isn’t a problem with this, changing the thermostat to ‘manual’ and increasing the set temperature also makes the heating kick in straight away, so it appears that the thermostat is communicating with the boiler. However 90% of the time when the heating is set to come on, the flame icon shows up on the thermostat but the central heating does not actually come on. Sometimes there is a red light on the boiler panel that flashes quickly and constantly and at other times there is no light on the boiler. I’ve followed the instructions to re-pair the thermostat with the boiler and this sometimes works and the heating kicks in as it should but inevitably it doesn’t come on again the next morning. I’ve emailed Salus and all they can suggest is to re-pair the device with the boiler but I’m having to do this every evening and am losing patience now.

Hi there, it’s either an issue between the salus thermostat and the receiver or the the receiver/boiler have been connected up wrong. I would change the salus for something more reliable and check all the connections. Thanks, Ryan
