Bathroom Fitting

Advice on bathroom please

Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.13 PM

I have had elements of new bathroom installed. Tiling wall and floor Toilet Vanity Unit and Sink Bath screen Bath panels Shower and taps Kept bath I have picked up the following issues, which I have informed the installer about we are in the process of arranging when to come and rectify. Just after advice on what do do re the issues. Some of my items have been damaged and i'm not the type of person to demand money or not pay, but still I paid good money for my items and wanted them installed in the condition I received them. What is reasonable to ask for replacement? - Toilet leaking - I have container underneath to catch water - Toilet seat lid scratched badly - I would like replacement - Basin tap moving - Under basin pipe leaking - I have now switched my water off to avoid damage downstairs - Small chip to basin - its not ceramic - composite mix - Do I ask for replacement? Its very small, but I know its there and it wasn't there before they started as I inspected very carefully. - Silicone to back of toilet messy - Can this be made neater with sealant? - Basin fixed to wall using silicone - brackets were placed but not affixed to wall with them (I will not pay for brackets as they are not being used) - Grouting to behind vanity unit not completed - Grouting to floor not complete before vanity unit put down - Walls not prepared properly not sanded down enough. I only bought enough paint for the room and its nearly finished now Would appreciate any thoughts/advice please. Still some work to do in terms of install shower unit. I will also ask to check under the bath panel for any leaks. Are bath panels better fixed with screws or siliconed? Thanks for any advice Best wishes Edit - Thanks Tileright for the advice. Just so disappointed. Seems a nice guy, who had done tiling painting for me before. Just not sure what happened on this occasion.

hello there, i think you have a decent case here.If you can come to an amicable solution that would be great, but unfortunately this isn't always the case.Toilet leak,he should be able to fix this.He should pay for a new toilet lid, however he could say they were there already.Bath tap should be able to tighten this.Basin tap should fix this.Chip to basin should get new one or repair, again could say it was there already.Toilet seal messy tell him to clean it up.Sink fixture, tell him to secure it with screws.Grouting issues, again tell him to rectify.Bath panels should be screwed on for access reasons. If he doesn't rectify these issues tell him your not going to pay, simple as that, you say you not the type of person not to pay,but you have to realise that he is supposed to be an installer, if he's not up to the job he shouldn't be doing it.If your worried about the reaction from the cowboy, sorry installer, have a friend or neighbour with you when you discuss the matter, dont get intimidated by this chap.If i were you i would take photo's of said problems. After all of this and he still doesn't do the proper job stand by your guns and refuse to pay and tell him your contacting your solicitor,You have consumer rights.Hope this helps and good luck. Lawrence.
