Plastering & Rendering

How to get to a decent agreement between customer and tradesman?

Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.13 PM

Hi guys, I got a big problem here I currently started a painting project and the client had wallpaper on the walls, she wanted removed and then paint but with a smooth surface. So we agree for plastering and then painting and we've made a contract, without any terms and cond, and without telling me that there will be stuff in the rooms.Lots of stuff. Now I can barely managed to finish the 2 rooms downstairs, because I had to move from there to here some large pieces of furniture to do the job, so its been already 3 weeks, with little extra work Now I've realised that I need more money for finishing it upstairs as well, but I need to do the same thing, to move the furniture and other many things out of my way, altough We havent agree firstly that there will be furniture to move So i have asked for more money for this extra job, and Of course i wont get a penny till the work is done In this case, I will loose alot What can I do? I am stuck with that contract and of course I've spent some money on the labour. Many thanks

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

This is a lesson to be leant by yourself as I did years ago, before I use to give a quote not the back of my business card, now I take photo's and send the quote through email on the bottom of the quote I put that I want the room cleared as much as possible and that I do not take any responsibility for any damage or mess on objects left in the working areas. So unfortunately you have two choices walk off of the job and swallow the expense or sit down with your client explaining what is going on and the cost implement. Also if I were you get terms and conditions in you email or quote. Sorry
