Damp Proofing

Water marks appeared in corner of living room ceiling

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 2.53 PM

Hi, we purchased a new home 3 weeks ago (2007 build) we have just finished decorating and in the top corner of the living room noticed damp water marks (today/Tuesday). There was no evidence of this whilst painting and it has only just appeared. The corner is next to the wall which separates the living room and hallway with the main bathroom directly above the hall, yet there are no water marks in this ceiling. We have noticed a crack in the tile grout behind the sink in the bathroom and wondered if it was possible for the water to have seeped through whilst cleaning the floors and tiles (however this was on Thursday) If not, what else could have caused this?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

This could be from an old leek that has dried out if you paint over an old leek it will stain come back as if it is leaking so will need stain blocking hope this has helped
