Can I use a Plug-In Timer with Electric Central Heating?

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 2.53 PM

Hi, Our central heating is controlled via a plug to the wall socket. There is no in built timer to the central heating, and I am considering buying a plug-in timer to manage it. Looks like I can get one from Screw Fix or even Argos for around £5. Masterplug make a 240V mechanical timer. Are they any safety concerns using this to time the central heating? Thanks.

Providing the plug in timer is sufficiently rated to carry the load of the electric heater, all is ok.
