radiator works fine if has thermostat taken off

Radiator cold took thermostat of checked plunger all work fine, and radiator gets hot, so do I need a new thermostat?

no they just get stuck sometimes

Thermostatic radiator valve pin is stuck , could be as simple as freeing it off. otherwise small job of replacing thermostatic radiator valve.
