new extension water tank system for pressured showers

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.08 PM

Hello I have a 3 bedroom semi detached house with one bathroom. This is currently run on a traditional water storage tank in the roof + boiler for shower and radiators. We are currently doing a double storey side extension with two new bathrooms (each with a shower enclosure) we are thinking of having a new water system to this extension. Please could you advice: 1. What is the best water solution for the bathrooms and hearing in the new extension. Note that we seek pressured showers in both bathrooms as our current shower very very low pressure mainly because part of the pipe system is steel and not copper, although these pipes will be replaced so we hope the water pressure increases. 2. Is it better to extend the existing cenral heating into the new extension but have a separate water system for the showers?this is because our current boiler may not be big enough to feed all the bathrooms. I say hearing system to be shared because not all rooms will be heated at once. 3. Our contrator is suggesting having electrical showers but I'm not keen in using them. He also suggested a megaflo tank? Please provide any thoughts.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

My suggestion would be to upgrade the existing central heating boiler, change the cylinder to a mains pressure megaflo and add the new extension to the now upgraded old system. Using zones valves to control the heating in the extension.
