Gas safe engineer to remove a gas cocker/hob from my kitchen or can my builder do it?

Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.12 PM

we bought a property and sold the kitchen on ebay. our builder will dismantle the kitchen and take the cabinets off the wall, disconnect electrics (fridge) and plumbing (sink) as well as the cooker/gas hob. does he need to be a gas safe engineer to take out the cooker as it is connected to the gas? thanks so much for the advice.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

In a word, yes! Only a a legitimate gas safe engineer is permitted to break any part of the gas way. A legitimate gas engineer will properly test your gas installation before AND after the work has been carried out. Using an unqualified builder is illegal and dangerous. For the small extra cost, I think the peace of mind is well worth it
