Glow worm combi boiler fires up for 10 seconds then shuts off

when the heating is called for, the LCD screen shows its firing up but it only fires up for 10 seconds then shut off and doesn't heat up the radiators. All the controls are talking to each other and working. I have bleed the system and put some radiator sludge breakdown in the first radiator,then flushed the system a couple of days later. Hot water is working perfectly. Help!!

It sounds like the heat isn't leaving the boiler, that's why it's only firing for a short period. This may be caused by the pump not working correctly or the diverter valve sticking in the hot-water position. If the boiler works ok for the hot water then you can discount the pump- there is either a blockage in the central heating circuit or more-likely a stuck diverter valve. Hope this helps.

You like many other seemingly well meaning DIY'r are fishing for information, it would be better if you called your local heating engineer to diagnose fault and advise you accordingly of repair cost or any remedial action required. Boilers and associated heating circuits are unlike tinkering with your own car on a Sunday morning as you may create more harm than good!

whatever the problem is, you are not legally allowed to take the cover off. If im make suggestions, I am encouraging you to break the law. A decent heating engineer is paid for what he knows, saving you money in the long term. call a reputable engineer, I dont think its a major job

Could be a multitude of things, sensors, valves, pipework issues. As above, its time to call an engineer out, we are not all rob dogs.
