Skirting Boards Pins Are Visible And Joins Not Level

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.08 PM

I have paid for a company to fit skirting boards around the entirety of my downstairs, including the new extension which they also built. They have fitted most of it before they ran out of skirting but when I have inspected the skirting that they have fitted and I have attempted to gloss it we have lots of silver pins clearly visible even after glossing and some are even still sticking out slightly from the board. Also, on my long wall there are two pieces of skirting board lay next to each other but the first piece sticks out and is not at all flush with the second piece and I wanted to know if this is normal as I expected it to be very flush so that I could barely notice the join? I have never had this kind of work done in the past and so I wanted to make sure the above isn't normal before I complain. Any help would be much appreciated!

Hi there, All fixing should not be visible , usually if staining you screw and then wooden plug over etc If nails are used then they should be punched below the surface then filled over . Nails sticking out is unacceptable . In most cases you have to join two pieces of skirting , it saves on waste and also very long walls where it's not possible to get it in one length . In these cases a good mitre joint should be all but invisible to the eye . Close up you would just about see it . Like looking for the join in good wall papering . You are not happy with the work you should contact your builder . Hope this is sort of helpful
