Do I need to serve notice for Party Wall for rear extension?

I live in a mid terrace house and wish to build a rear extention. To one side there is a fence between properties. I wish to build up to this fence on my side. Do I need to serve notice still ? and going on the extention foundations not going beneith the mid house foundations. If so what type of notice do I need to serve?

Yes party wall needs to be served if you are to excavate within 2 meters of a boundary
