Damp Proofing

Had a damp course injected in bungalow but still getting mould.

Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.12 PM

I had a full damp course done on my bungalow in September so 2 months. On the inside they took the skirting boards off drilled in to the wall and injected it. On the outside of the house they drilled all along it and injected it but now mould is appearing in rooms that never had any before the wooden bars under my son's cot have mould on them and I clean them twice a week and it's still growing I also have a dehumidifier in my son's room but it's still growing on the wall ceiling even on the plastic on his toys am constantly wiping it away everyday. Help how long does it take to work ??

the problem is that injected damp proof courses only work if its rising damp, your sounds more like a ventilation issue. rising damp is misdiagnosed in over 75% of cases rising to 95% in older property's. their are so many different reasons for dampness without looking at the problem it is impossible to say exactly what is causing your issues, condensation, penetrating ,outside ground level higher than internal floors, broken roof tiles, degraded under felt, chimney, guttering leak . your best bet is post it on the site and get a local expert round to asses the problem/solution. good luck Alex

As Alex has outlined there are many causes of damp, yours does sound more likely to be a condensation issue from what you've shared. There are variuos ways to manage condensation, increasing of ventalation and controlling humidity of the environment are key. Best to get a local expert round to carry out a holistic assesssment, to avoid misdiagnosing the problem. Kind Regards Brendan
