How do I create a loft hatch in ceiling of Victorian house?
Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.08 PM
I live in a Victorian mid terrace house. Row of 5 houses of same height in a long terrace. I have no access to the loft space, which are two loft spaces, separated by a valley. I would like to install insulation in the loft spaces but need access. My end neighbour has created a lower, false ceiling and installed loft hatches. Is this the only way? Also, what type of tradesman can do the work? I contacted loft insulation companies and they couldn't help. Thanks
Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Loft hatches are easy to install and comes ready made - see www.screwfix.com
All you need to do is locate the joists, cut the hole, insert two trimmers (across cut joists) and fit your insulated loft hatch.
Your best option is to purchase the hatch you require, identify where you would like it fitting, then post the job under handyman or carpenter on this site.
