Roof verges - repoint or plastic dry verges?

Anonymous user 14/03/2024 - 2.34 PM

I have a modern 4 bed detached house with two gable ends. I have noticed recently that we have lost chunks of mortar/cement out of a small sections and I am trying to decide whether to have it all checked and re-pointed or go for plastic dry verges. Any thoughts on which way to go?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hi, there is another option, you can install a cloak verge tile. They are a bit more expensive than a plastic verge system but you will only fit them once as the plastic verges can blow off and they interlock so if the middle verge comes of you have to remove them all from the top to the one that has came off. If the cloak verge is within your budget thats the system to install, Wullie.

Dry verge but use the profile ones and not straight uPVC strips. Re-pointing is a thing that heads regularly upkeep, however a dry verge is for life if fitted well - and looks better. See - www.fascias.com for material pricing Regards Andrew
