How to restore wooden doors to original

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.08 PM

We have original wooden doors on the property we have purchased and would like to know how to restores these to original At the moment the doors are painted and the handles and hinges are old. Doors would also require realignment doors to fit into frame. Please advise what options do I have? Is there a machine I need to use to strip off teh paint?

Don't get the diped as this will berake the glue on the joints down and the joints will open up and become loose. The best way is to burn the paint off and sand them down by hand it takes a bit of elbo grees but gives the best finish.

First take off all furniture, use hot air gun and scraper strip off all paint till wood. Check around if some cracks or damage and fill with wood filer. When dried, sand and look agine, if need put more filer. When ready you can primer and fin sand when dry. It's ready for painting and fit all furniture , better use all new. This is basic, but sometime need more job, depend of damage but 99% old door repairable. Good lack
