Why do we have wet patches appear on the bedroom walls when it has been raining or frosty?

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 2.53 PM

I didn't know which tradesman to contact for this problem and I don't know the most cost-effective way of solving it. I could have selected brickwork, insulation or damp-proofing. During wet spells and frost especially a wet patch appears on the bedrooms walls. It starts where the slope meets the vertical wall. The water trickles down and leaves permanent streaks in the paintwork. We do get condensation on the windows every day during cold weather. Our house was built in the 1950's and every room was vented but we took out the 2 main bedroom vents and left one in the small bedroom and put an electric fan in the bathroom. We had our roof pointed 2 years ago. I don't know whether water is entering the brickwork, whether it is condensation etc. Any help most welcome

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?
