Lots of drill holes in wall... how to fill?

Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.11 PM

Ok, i'm sick of what the previous owner did to the house, its a right big mess, drill holes all over the outside brickwork with screws and rawlplugs etc, I'm thinking of get a similar colour brick and crushing it into powder then mixing this with cement and filling the holes best i can, will this work? or do i need to mix in anything else to the mixture? thanks

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hi Crushing the bricks will make the cement textured and harder to fill smoothly, i would go for a cement dye to match the brick colour

crushing the bricks wont really make the mortar change colour to match. imagine putting crushed biscuits into ice cream, the colour will stay the same, but the texture will change. best option would be to try a mortar dye, but you would be lucky to get a good match since dyes only come in black, brown, red and yellow from what i know of. regarding the crushed brick idea. i suppose if you crushed up enough to get a decent amount of dust you could buy some special cement what is called snowcrete. unlike the regular grey cement, snowcrete is white and is used more for specialist brickwork like when installing stone fireplaces etc. white cement is a better way to go if you are wanting to mix in some brick dust because it is more likely to darken like you want.
