Low hot water pressure (Grundfos selectric ups 15-50)

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 2.53 PM

Hi I have problems with our hot water pressure in the bathroom especially the bath/shower. It is nice and hot but just trickles out the shower mixer and is ok out the bath but no where near as powerful and quick as the cold water. We have the two water tanks in the loft, hot water cylinder in the airing cupboard on the same level as the bathroom and the boiler downstairs in the kitchen. The hot water cylinder has a Grundfos selectric ups 15-50 attached to it (if that means anything?). The original owners had a power shower but we got rid of it as we just wanted a mixer. Any help would be very much appreciated.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hi, Without having a inspection of the system it can be difficult to make an accurate diagnosis, however it sounds to me like you do not have the recommended "head" (height difference between stored water and cylinder/outlets) to add pressure to your hot water outlets. There are a number of remedial actions that could be taken if this is the case - 1. Raising the level of the header tank if this is found to be case. 2. Installing a shower pump between the cylinder and shower outlet. It would be interesting to know if you have ever had good pressure at the hot water outlet, If you have it could indicate a washer issue within the tap/shower assembly itself. Are the shower and hot water outlets seperate or is it an all in one mixer assembly? TMDB Gas Services
