Adding a downstairs toilet in a cottage (under stairs)

Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.11 PM

Hello, I am in the process of buying a house which is an old 1900 terraced cottage. There is quite a large space under the stairs which I would like to transform into a downstairs loo with a small basin. The waste pipe is at the back of the house. We currently have a bathroom upstairs with a loo connected directly on this waste pipe. The downstairs is mostly concrete flooring, this was replaced in 2010. Being a terraced house I was wondering if adding a toilet would be an absolute nightmare? I thought maybe an alternative solution would be to basically run the water to the stair space, and use a macerator toilet instead. Do you think this is do-able or would it be an absolute nightmare to do this transformation? Regards

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

yes a macerator or saniflow would be the easiest option they don't come cheep but the toilet and the basin will both work from the same unit and no need to dig up the floor, simply run a 3/4" outlet pipe to the upstairs bathroom or to the soil stack at the rear of the property
