Best way to sound proof a terraced house

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.08 PM

Hello, I am currently looking to buy a 1900 terraced house and I would like to reduce potential wall-to-wall noises by sound proofing the party walls. I have looked online for various products to do so. Is this something that actually work and provide sufficient noise reduction between houses? I guess this would be as much as protecting the neighbour from hearing too much of us as protecting ourselves from hearing too much the neighbour. Is there anything I should know about soundproofing a party wall? Is this something a DIYer can do easily? Regards

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hi a way to reduce sound transfer on terrace party walls would be to use a gypline metal furing system suspended from the existing wall filled with aqustic partition roll and boarded with a sound sheild pasterboard with a plaster skim finish, but this is more difficult than general diy. I hope this helps Regards jared bow drywall
