Kitchen tiles (with underfloor heating underneath) do not seem very hard wearing

Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.11 PM

I have underfloor heating under my kitchen tiles. The tiles do not seem very hard wearing. They crack easily and if things drop on them they end up with hollow holes which I have filled in. Also, the tiles in places feel hollow. Could this mean that they were not originally bedded properly? Thank you Samantha

Yes you are correct, could be bad fixing, not the correct adhesive ,I'am afraid it will need removing and retiled.

Yes bad fitting job. sounds like they have been fitted with a dab and dot method and not a screed. Gaps and holes in the adhesive will weaken the overall strength of a floor tile and you wont be getting the best heat transfer from you under floor heating.
