the work they have done is as follows: they have strippd back slates, fitted lead gutter seal to my gutter(this was leaking directly outside the back door)and refitted slates, they also raked out loose and defective pointing to flags and repointed and applyd cement fillet to flags and house wall. And after the water still getting in they reciliconed around the base of exterior door as this was also defective. However none of this work is stopping the water getting in!!! any idea please? thankyou

hi can you tell me where you are i am quite ineterested in this and would like to take a look as it dont sound like it is a roof problem i think you may have a leaking pipe
i had a similar problem and it turned out to be an old lead pipe that had been somehow concealed in my brickwork why i dont know but it took me ages to discover
many thanks russ

Hmmm, in theory the seal under a door sill shouldnt let water in by its very nature.. Faulty guttering would cause a damp issue but unlikely that it would cause water to "seep" in. This has already been proven by the tradesman doing the work and its not fixed the issue. Is your kitchen nearby to the back door? Or maybe a laundry room? Could there be a leak or blocked pipe? How about a gully outside the area thats wet? This could be blocked and overflowing? How about the surface outside the back door? Is it at the same height as an airbrick? (it shouldnt be if it is). Is there a chimnet close by? These can fail at the top and leak heavily.. These are just things that i would be looking for on a first inspection.
Best of luck, dan
