Protection of laminated upstand 60mm from hob
Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.11 PM
We have installed our kitchen (howdens) and run a laminate upstand behind our gas hob. It is 60mm from the hob but we have had mixed advice as to whether this is far enough away to avoid blistering... Advice welcome as to whether we are fine or whether we need to cover with fabricated stainless steel or glass cover...

Hi kimh_52.
Rule of thumb is you never run laminate up stands behind a gas hob.
I would remove the section behind and replace it with a glass splash back or similar.
The up stand might not blister now but will after a few years.
Hope that helps
John.
