Water main to boiler pipe size - 15mm/22mm?

Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.11 PM

We have recently replaced our lead water main with a 25mm MDPE pipe. We then planned on connecting it to a new stop tap which reduced the width to 15mm so that this can then go into the water meter already installed and exit in a 15mm pipe as well. But we are now replacing the boiler, and the required model needs a 22mm water pipe supply. Can this be done simply before entering the boiler with a 15-22mm coupler or do we need to change the stop tap and get the water meter replaced so that the reduction is to 22mm? Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Cheers

Your boiler requires a 15mm feed not a 22mm. If your cold water service delivers a minimum of 18 l/pm then you're ok. Simple way to test, get a 1 litre jug and a stopwatch, as soon as you fully open the cold water tap start the stopwatch when it has reached 1 ltr stop then see how many seconds it has taken, divide 60 in to the time taken this then gives you L/PM. E.G. 60 ÷ 4.6 seconds = 13 L/PM
