Downstairs lighting problem - changed fuse wire, swapped light switches and bulbs - lighting circuit appears OK
Anonymous user 14/03/2024 - 2.34 PM
A few weeks ago, I had my lounge and hall lights on, which blew. (All others were off). I changed the fuse wire and all other lights work but not the two above. I have swapped the light switches and bulbs with those I know work; but these two still do not work. It appears the lighting circuit is OK, but these two lights are still faulty. Please help!

You need an electrician.

Not sure what type light fittings you have but some lights have built in transformers that could have burnt out in both the fittings if they are the same. and maybe change lamps to LED so uses less energy and do not heat up as much. hope this might help

I would advise a check of the circuit/system. If the fuse has blown and you have the type of circuit breaker that requires fuse wire, the Distribution Board (DB) is quite old and most likely the wiring is to. At a minimum you will probably need new light fittings and the fault correcting to ensure that everything is safe.
