Damp Proofing

penetrating damp in victorian house - had damp injections, old sand cement removed and put thermal plasterboard up

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.07 PM

Hi. ive got an old victorian house which has a half brick gable end with supporting pillars and 2nd storey added on. internally ive had damp injections and the old sand cement removed and put thermal plasterboard up. i have since had patches of damp coming through with the plaster bubbling and flaking.black mould visible only in the corner of 1 of the rooms on the gable.i have just had the external render taken off and redone with waterproofer in.painted with masonry paint then sprayed waterproofer on.my concern is that as its patches that it may be a condensation. ive gutted the house and now have gas heating in all rooms.the room with black mould in the corner didnt have heating previously (broken storage heater).theres a cupboard understairs which isnt ventilated at all. would you suggest i add vents and if so any recommendations ie electrical or jus air vents bearing in.mind half brick thick wall?thanks

sorry but everything you have done to this property is wrong for the age of the building, instead of using N.H.L. which would allow the building to breathe you have used modern materials which stop the house breathing, suggest you find a local tradesman who works with lime mortars/plasters/renders to see if it is possible to rectify. good luck Alex
