Moving a bathroom from the back of the house to the middle of the house

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 2.52 PM

Hi, I am currently in the process of building a relatively old character terraced cottage. According to the current layout upstairs, the bathroom is at the back of the house part of a new extension built in 2010, and we have two bedrooms towards the front of the house. I would like to finish the upstairs extension and that could give me two generous size rooms, one at the front of the house and one at the back of the house. To achieve this, I would need to move the current bathroom form the back of the house to the middle of the upstairs. This house being terraced, I was wondering if that might prove to be too difficult? There might be access for the drain on the outside wall but I am not quite sure about it. If not, is there a clever way to move the drains for the toilets and bathroom tubs and sink? Regards

One possible solution would be to do an internal drainage stack (very often used in new builds) and this might help you to drop down to the ground floor and find and easier route to your external wall or current stack. hope this helps
