Tiler cracked tile when drilling hole for shower curtain

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.07 PM

Hi I had the wall above my bathroom tiled last week and asked the tiler to put up the shower riser and shower curtain rail brackets. When drilling one of the holes for the curtain rail he cracked a tile. Although a bit annoyed about this it is not massively visible (above head height and mostly hidden by the shower rail) and I can disguise it with grout or sealant, but is this something I should be complaining about or merely noting before I pay? Is there anything better than grout or sealant to disguise it? Follow up - contacted the tiler and he came back to replace it no problems at all. All complete to my satisfaction now. Thanks for the help. Ed

Get the tile replace whilst you can, it would bug me and even though barely visible, because you know it is there it will annoy you forever.

Hi My advice ask the tiler to take down the rail and replace the tile before you pay him , it should not take to long and he should be more than happy to do so as you are paying for your bathroom to be tiled you want it to be right. Stephen Stephen Christopher Ceramics.

Remove the tile, the tiles should have been left for a few days before drilling,if tubbed adhesive then even longer.
