Carpet Fitting over old linoleum tiles (some cracked away around fire place)

Anonymous user 01/03/2024 - 2.51 PM

We have carpets being fitted on Friday and wondered if there will be an issue with a few cracked missing tiles along the edge of the fire place hearth approx. 5 inches out. The depth difference between the concrete floor underneath and the remaining tiles is probably only around 1mm Will this be noticeable once carpet has been laid or will it be ok ?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Would be best filled with a latex screed prior to fitting but failing that you could pack it up with card of even a few sheets of newspaper providing carpet is being fitted with grippers and a good quality underlay there would be no problem hope this helps you regards phil

If your having underlay you will be fine ! Depending on how thick the carpet is it may show without underlay
