Who should pay for a Contractors Equipment?

Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.11 PM

I'm in the process of reviewing my contractors expenses. Along with all the materials he needs to complete the job he is charging me for a lot of equipment, like drills, screw drivers etc. Is this correct? If so who does this equipment belong to after the job is complete?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

i would say this is far from correct, unless it has and can only be used solely for your job, for instance: if you hire a diamond blade from hire base you pay per millimetre of diamond, and would come under costs relayed to you. I buy all my own kit and claim back for depreciation. If you have been billed for the equipment and no understanding has been undertaken that your builder gets the 'bounty' then its yours. hope this helps Sean

I agree with the above. You shouldn't be paying for a builder to buy a drill!!! I also own all of my own tools and its just part of the job to be using your kit!!
