Removal of an internal wall
Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 2.52 PM
I have just bought a house. Removal of an internal wall between the Toilet and Bathroom was done by the owner. My solicitor is requesting the seller's solicitor to provide a building regulations approval or a consent letter from Council if it was exempt. The seller's solicitor wrote to my solicitor that no building regulations approval was needed as it was not a load bearing wall. The seller is not aware of anything such consent was granted. Could some body answer what is the next step and what is the solution please?
Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

For peace of mind you could ask (for a fee) the Council to do a retrospective inspection.
Or you could look in the loft to check none of the roof structure or storage tank platforms took a bearing onto the missing wall.
Cheers
