How to repair or replace rotten wood

Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 2.38 PM

I have a wooden conservatory which is rotting in places due to a leaking roof. I am replacing the roof with plastic as is already there. But I know the wood needs replacing as in some parts, it has gone all the way through. I want to replace this but not sure how. The main part's which are rotten are the roof beams, one corner and one window sill. There are glass windows all around the room; does this make it harder? Can someone help me if I cannot do this alone? I am on a very tight budget....so cannot afford to have it all replaced.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Your question was answerd very short and to the point by BJD Building. This problem occurs in many types of Sun Room/ Conservatory/ Garden room, unfortunately, many people in the UK do not have a maintenance plan for their properties, and, as such failing paintwork leads to failing timber components of many types of building. Once you have completed your work, please try to take time and do regular inspections of all of your property both internal and external. It may seem a bit of a pain, but believe me, it will pay dividends in the long run. Dave Collier "Kitchens"

If your on a tight budget, get a carpenter round, he will be able to renew any bad wood and splice in new bits of timber where needed.
