Would I need permission for extending width of utility room by 1 metre?

Anonymous user 14/03/2024 - 2.34 PM

I have an utility room at the back of my house (connected to the rear wall of my house) which in width is only 1m 30cm and the length is 3m 10 inch. Now i want to extend the width of my utility room by 1 metre (making it 2m 30cm wide) so i could put all my fridges, washing machine etc in there and have more space. would i need permission for such extension? thank you

Hi Provided you are not in a conservation area and permitted developments have not been removed for your home then you should not currently need permission, it is worth a call to your Local Authority Planning Department to ask a "hypothetical question" as a check.

Don't forget you will still need to obtain Building Regulations from your local authority for this project even if planning doesn't apply.
