Taken out fireplace with electric fire - can I have an open fire again?

Hi I have a back boiler that works off gas that does the hot water and heating. The fireplace had an electric fire in it which I've taken out. Can I have an open fire again? Thanks Damian.

Yes, is the short answer,,,,the cost will be determined by how much of the original chimney and fireplace remain and the condition of it.
