Is wet/cold weather bad for building an extension?

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.07 PM

Weather permitting, I am considering getting a single storey rear extension done. My main concern is that as we are now in wet/cold weather is this a bad time of year to be building foundations, installing a tiled roof, allowing skimmed plaster to dry etc. Would I be better off waiting until the summer to get this type of work done or can a competent builder still manage the build ? Any advice would be most appreciated as I want to avoid any structural problems related to the weather !

extensions can go up all year round but the weather will slow you down at times if its raining you may be able to make a shelter and but its not allways possible so if it was heavy you couldn't lay also the cold it generally needs to be 3degrees and rising for mortars to cure properly,in general if you have a good builder they will get the job done

wet weather is not so much of a problem only that it can slow the build down but certain materials such as concrete, morter and types of plaster can have restrictions if temteratures do drop to low
