tap repair which are loose - one tap go round and need pressure in order to turn off / on the water

Hi there, I was wondering if I could pick up your brain and knowledge. One of the tap from the shower is quite loose and need to apply pressure in order to open it and close it. I took both out in order to compare and the faulty one is on the left. http://www.mybuilder.com/job/view/1086693 from the picture posted on that job, we can see that the white bit has got loose and is away from the top of the tap in comparison of the one from the right where the white bit is fixed to the main tap. Previously, I try to put some PTFE Jointing Tape from homebase - worked for a bit and now out again. Can I get some spare elements to replace the faulty one? If so what do you think and what name are they called? Additional questions,Is that something easy that I could do myself? or should I get someone to do it for me? Cheers,

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hi, What ever you do here whether it be PTFE of silicone or some form of glue or rubber washer it will only be a temporary fix. You'll need to find the match for the bath taps to find the spare you are looking for. You might get lucky and find a plastic fitting in a similar set of taps or in fixing and fastening store but it's a very long shot. At two pert mix glue like aryldyte might be worth a try but again will only be a matter of time until the problem will persist. Hard to tell with out actually seeing it. Regards Matt
