can i artex straight over a plastered ceiling or do i need to pva(uni-bond) it first

When we trained in the 70s we used the appropiate artex sealer, but I would have thought pva would do the same. I would never do an Artex`ceiling again, its so out dated, you cant beat a good flat skimmed ceiling.

When ive seen it on site the artexers paint the ceiling first with normal emulsion paint this gives the artex alot longer to go off so you have more time to do it, if you use pva the artex will still go off pretty quick

Hi i would p.v.a the ceiling with two coats with a mix of 50% p.v.a to 50% water hope this helps many thanks Dennis Builders

Hi,have done Artexing since 1979.Artex do a Sealer but as other people have said,2 coats of p.v.a mixed with same amount of water would do what was required...Richard

Hi there, you will need to pva it first. Also depends how thick the artex is. Hope this helps

Hello. You will need to use a diluted mix of PVA on the ceiling. Your best to use a cheap a roller to apply it. Saves slot of time.

You must pva the ceiling first but why use artex anyway everybody hates that stuff!
