RCD trip switch went once but not since

Anonymous user 14/03/2024 - 2.34 PM

I have changed 2 power sockets in my lounge, they are both working fine but when I switched a plug socket on in the bedroom upstairs it tripped the RCD. I switched it back on and it hasn't happened again, yet why did this occur as I didn't change any sockets in the bedroom?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

RCD detected a fault so shut down for safety. Could well have been a fault or in-rush current of the appliance that was switched on. RCD's are very sensitive so will trip at the slightest earth leakage current.

It is possible they are on same circuit and maybe in changing sockets potential of squashing the neutral to the earthed back box worth turning power off and checking cables
