Exposed Brickwork on Attic Chimney Stacks - filling gap between chimney and internal roofline
Anonymous user 14/03/2024 - 2.34 PM
To expose the brickwork I have been taking off the plaster on the two chimney stacks which meet in my attic bedroom. They converge together in the attic room ant then go up to the chimney pots on the roof. When i've reached the edges of the stacks by the roof i've found that the chimney stack brickwork is at a different angle to the roof and consequently there is a space between the edge of the chimney's and the internal roof line where there is no brickwork. Do you have any suggestions with what to fill this with to make the finish look good? At its widest i estimate it to be about 30cm.

best option would be to find some bricks to match the existing bricks and fill in the gap with them.
ideally it is a job for a professional bricklayer because it will involve cutting each brick at an angle to suit the pitch of the underside of the roof.
it is possible to do yourself, but if your worried about not being able to do a quality neat job i would deff get in a bricklayer to do it. at most it be a days work going on what you have said.
most brickies today will charge between £120 and £160 per 8 hour day, plus any materials of course.
