Bathroom Fitting

Plumber has chipped acrylic bath whilst job ongoing

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 2.52 PM

Hi, We are in the middle of having our bathroom redone at the moment and when I went to use the bath for the first time last night, after being told it would be fine by the plumber, I noticed a chip in the bath (acrylic). I'm pretty sure it wasn't there when the bath arrived so, as far as I can tell, he has either fitted a chipped bath (unlikely) or chipped it while installing it. The plumber has been storing his tools inside the bath over night with no protection done so I think this is most likely. I'm interested to know how people think I should proceed? His work as been fine for the most part, although some of the fine finishes are suspect, and I've no desire to fall out with guy especially seeing as there are still jobs to be done. Thanks

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

hi, there is a product by a company called cramer which is a repair kit comprising of filler, hardener and an acrylic spray. unibond make a similar product which is simply horrendous! the cramer product provides a very, very good finish and is as good as invisible. i understand that it is a shame to have a repair a new product but as you say, falling out with your tradesman at this stage of the job may not be beneficial for either parties. all the best with the rest of your work

Hi, there is a cheaper way to repair your bath and that is Milliput Superfine White, you can find it on Amazon for less than £4. Use it with wet fingers and allow few good hours to set hard. From what you say you don't know for sure the bath has been damaged by the plumber, you suspect so but still might be wrong. I had a lot of damaged goods replaced due mostly to deliveries, particularly when done by third parties.
