swop unswitched socket to fused spur

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 2.52 PM

I need to hardwire a cooker hood I've bought and have an unswitched socket behind my cooker. Can I just swop the socket to a fused spur and hardwire into that? Thanks Edit: thanks for the replies! Problem solved as the unswitched socket was indeed spurred off of a fused spur...an unused fused spur! Thanks again guys.

Usually if there is a unswitched socket there is a switched spur feeding this and if so you can't spur off a spur

Provided that the cooker is 3kw or less then yes. If its over 3kw then a new cooker circuit will be needed. What is the rating of the cooker?
