Foundation depth with leylandii trees near

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.07 PM

Hi I am thinking of building a conservatory 3 x 3 metres in my back garden. My neighbours at the rear have a row of leylandii trees all across the width of my garden approx 2.5m high at present. I don't need planning or building regs as the Conservatory is within guidelines specified. The trees are 5.5 m from thenearet part where the Conservatory would go. I have phoned Building regs for advice and they say I should go 2 m deep in foundations and step up 150 mm every 1m which would be extremely difficult and dangerous by hand but I can't get a digger around. Is this advice overkill. Any advice would be appreciated

It does sound a little over the top, but as most building control will cover there back as to the advice they give, i would advice that you dig down to a sound base with no fibrerous routes, this would be adequate for the conservatory build.
